2014 business camp

The Fifth Business Camp On July 7, the Business College officially started a three-week business camp after the jubilant opening ceremony. The program adopted all English teaching and invited students from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) and Pittsburg State University (PSU), both our sister universities, to participate. This year the participants included 8 from MTSU, 2 from PSU, plus 24 CYCU Business College students to attend. The 34 students experienced a culturally rich full of international color summer. The content of the program combines classroom teaching and summer camp fun. The program and business visits were arranged by Chun-Tsung Chin, faculty from International Business Department. Moreover, the College invited Dr. Kenny Jih of MTSU to co-chair the program planning and execution. Dr. Jih taught the course and shared cases so students received abundant knowledge and understood real world practice to broaden their international perspective. This year, the program arranged 6 days of company visits including MRT Control center, Taipei City Traffic Control Center, National Development Council, Kuozui Motor Co., New Taipei City Government, Songshan Cultural Park, Hsinchu Science Park, Industrial Technology Research Institute, Lealea Group, Love Story Building, and Daxi Old Town, a total of 11 institutions. Through special topic discussion and real time report, students could understand the operation model of Taiwanese enterprises to further the understanding of Taiwanese business culture. Besides, the Office of International Affairs arranged scenery trips to Yilan Traditional Arts Center and the Aboriginal Village in Sun Moon Lake to see the beauty and culture of Taiwan for foreign students. Local students also brought students voluntarily to tour Taipei 101 building, Shihlin Night Market, and Yingge, the city of Ceramics. Those foreign students were amazed by the creativity of Taiwanese people and the reservation of traditional culture. Because of all English teaching, this program strengthened our local students English communication and the determination of enhancing their English abilities. Through daily practice, our students built up confidence to speak English. In the class interaction, our students learned American teaching style and stimulated their interest in studying abroad.
